Sooner or later your house may start to smell. You may start to wonder, is it the trash, old food, or maybe the shrimp that fell behind the couch is a bigger problem than you thought it would be. No matter where the smell is coming from, here are some of the common culprits as well as some of the best DIY methods we could find for neutralizing them.

• Kitchen

Here you may find odors lurking in the trash or fridge. Other common areas include the garbage disposal and the vent hood above your stove or oven.

In the bathroom smells and odors are lurking around almost every corner. Whether it comes from a dry P-Trap to the toilet or sink, stink is everywhere.

Although this is where things go to get cleaned, there can still be a plethora of smells found here. Be it dirty laundry or a mildew filled washer 

• Bedroom

Here smells may come from dirty laundry, trash cans, and more. One place many may not expect is bedsheets. They can harbor dead skin and bacteria.

• Pets

Your pets probably love to rummage through planters and trash cans, exploring all they can. That however means that they also bring those smells inside.

How To Deodorize Your Home

Simply put baking soda and vinegar (separately, of course, we don't want a 6th-grade science experiment on our hands) can work wonders on not just covering up but neutralizing odors. For a simple way to deodorize your whole home simply simmer a cup (or more) of vinegar! Once the vinegar smell fades so will the rest of the odors that came before it. Similarly, if a room has a musty or damp smell, like a laundry room or garage, place a bowl full of baking soda or kitty litter inside. Both will help to absorb and trap nasty odors, however, it's recommended to make sure those areas are well ventilated and dry so smell never comes around in the first place. For your pets, one of the biggest problems can be their beds or toys. Spraying with a 1 to 1 dilution of vinegar can really work wonders, or simply replacing old bedding after a certain time.
